Last weekend, I was at a venue that didn’t have any wi-fi. It was also located in farm country. Basically, it was in the middle of nowhere so phone service was spotty.
Fortunately, I have a great, curated library of songs and I have no problem rocking a night’s set with just the songs that I have on hand.
I love being able to play requests and when I don’t have a track, I can often scoop it from a streaming service and still play it.
As you can see in this video, I wasn’t able to play this particular request. But I was able to play things in that vein and keep the party moving.
Streaming is great, but you can’t rely on it. As a DJ, I make sure that I have a well-curated library loaded up into my DJ rig.
I also have back-ups just in case anything goes wrong.
A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event and I want to make sure everything is perfect for the couple and their guests. That’s why I spend a lot of time prepping and organizing my music files.
It’s a big job to manage a DJ library that will satisfy the diverse age-range and musical tastes you find at weddings. But having a great collection gives you piece of mind that you can rock any dance floor with ease.
