As a DJ, it is important to have back-ups in place just in case anything unexpected happens. Weddings are a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and we need to bring our A-game.

Here is an example of how I power through technical difficulties. It was the middle of a reception with a fill dance floor and my controller screen froze. I was able to keep playing music by using the keyboard and controller buttons and knobs. But it wasn’t ideal.

So, I turned on a secondary source of music while I turned off my DJ controller to reset it. The music continued. People kept dancing and no one knew that there was any issue with my gear.

Of course, the groom decided to come over at this moment. He had a request but had to wait a moment while I rebooted my system. I’m not sure he knew what I was doing though. The music was still playing and nothing seemed amiss.

I’ve never had an issue with this controller before and I haven’t had one since. It’s a great unit and still serving me well.

Having back-ups is absolutely essential however. And this is just one example of why being prepared as a wedding DJ is key.
