The first rock concert I ever attended was Moist in the early 1990s. I believe it was at The Warehouse in Toronto back in 1994. I just tried to find my ticket stub to confirm. I’m sure I have it somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. It was a great show though and I am proud to say that I have been a Day 1 fan.
So, when I heard they were playing at the Canadian National Exhibition last night, I knew I had to go.
The CNE is a big annual event but I haven’t gone in years. So while I was checking out all of the sights, attractions, and great food, I needed to make sure I knew where the Bandshell was so I could easily find it later.
As I got closer to the outdoor venue, I started to hear Moist songs. I picked up my pace and sure enough, they were doing a soundcheck.

David Usher came down and took some selfies with a few of the people who were watching. He waved and said, “Hi!” before going back stage and disappearing. I really wished that I had brought a CD for him to sign. I never expected that I’d get to meet him. That was crazy!

Texas King opened up for them, I never heard them before but they put on a great show. I definitely will be checking out their music later.

As a DJ, I always have back-up gear in place and ready to go. It looks Kevin Young does too. He had two identical set-ups with two laptop computers for his midi-keyboards and instruments.
I don’t like to be that guy who doesn’t just watch and enjoy the show live, but I really wanted to capture some video to share with my brother who couldn’t make it out last night.
He missed an incredible show!
But I bought him a T-shirt at the start of the event. I am glad I did too, because they sold out by the end of the night.
If you get a chance to go see Moist live, I highly recommend it. Even the people around me were cool. We became fast-friends and were having a great time chatting beforehand, singing our hearts out, and enjoying an amazing concert.
That is what it is all about!
