Over a month ago, I shared some of my own music with a fellow DJ through a direct message on Facebook.

He got the music, downloaded it, and tried to reply back to me on Messenger, but for some reason it wouldn’t let him. So, he messaged me on Instagram instead.

I immediately went to Facebook and saw that I had been banned. I followed the steps to appeal the decision, which only involved shooting a video of myself and turning my head on command. It was weird. It didn’t ask me to explain what happened or anything.

After I submitted the appeal, I got this message.

Apparently, it only takes a day or two to resolve this.

It’s been over a month!

And every time I try to get back on Facebook, I see the same message. I’ve been banned and seem to have no recourse on getting my access back.

Stranger still is that I have no problems using Instagram, which is also managed by parent-company Meta. In fact, my accounts were linked and I pretty much always posted to Facebook from my Instagram account.

WhatsApp is also a Meta product and I regularly share my music there with no issue.

So what is going on here? And is there anything else I can do?

A Possible Problem

I have a cloud server that I pay for called pcloud. It is great because it acts like a drive on my computer and lets me access files on any one of my multiple computers. And it is super-easy to create a link to share a file or folder with anyone.

I have been having issues with this service for a few years now. If I send an email with a pcloud link it in, it never arrives to the inbox in which I sent it. I have no idea why. It shows up as sent on my end too which is even more perplexing.

So, maybe pcloud links are marked somehow and Facebook won’t accept them or treats them as fishy.

The strange thing is that I share them without issues whatsoever on WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook’s parent company, Meta.

What Now?

I’ll have to wait and see if Facebook comes around. Maybe I need to create a new account and just give up on getting the official Chase March one back. Unfortunately, I had that name locked. It was nice and clean.

Maybe I’ll just never return and only focus on IG and TikTok.

But I am a little weary of using pcloud at all now for sending out links.
