Next week I will be celebrating the 500th episode of my show, Word is Bond Rap Radio. It’s quite the milestone and not something I ever really thought about. I just craft the best radio show I can on a weekly basis and have been doing so for ten years. Ten years of work that I can show off and be proud of.

I’ve been blogging for over ten years but I don’t feel the same sense of accomplishment with that, for some reason. When I started this little web log back in 2007 I had a very specific goal in mind. It’s one that I have yet to realize though. Perhaps it’s time I doubled down on that. This is the year I can finally achieve my dream of becoming a published author.

I have several manuscripts written that have been collecting dust. I want to share these with the world but I don’t think they are quite ready. Yesterday I had an epiphany on how I could rewrite one of the novels to make it even better. It would fix a problem I had with the main character too. It’s such a great idea that I can’t wait to get started on it. I also came up with a plan on how to make sure it can be completely authentic and ready for a traditional publisher.

I also have a great idea about writing a Hip Hop book. I’ve always wanted to write one of those and now is exactly the time I should do it.

This year is going to be an exciting one. My group, Hip Hop HeadUcatorz are releasing our debut album with a bonus lesson plan book for teachers. We are also booked to perform and deliver a workshop at a reading conference. We are very excited about this.

I have a few other goals related to music that I am going to try to work at, but there are only so many hours in the day. I might have to prioritize a few things. I am kicking around the idea of cutting back on my radio show. It takes a lot of time to produce a two-hour radio show every week. This is time I could spend working on writing and getting my manuscripts ready for publishing.

I need to hit that target I set for myself so long ago. I need to make this blog more than just a place to host my podcast, some old radio that I’ve digitized, and book reviews. It’s time to get back to writing.
