My Prized Autograph from Claire Danes

I wrote Claire Danes a fan letter after watching the second episode of her amazing show “My So-Called Life.”

Something about her left me awestruck. I had to write that letter. I became an immediate fan and looked forward to Thursday nights at 8:00 to watch her on that excellent series.

I was almost floored when I received this postcard in the mail a few months later. When I scanned it into the computer, I overlapped her message from the back of the card so you can see it beside her picture.

I love how she wrote “Best of Everything and signed it with a heart. I always read it as “love Claire Danes.”

I have had this postcard framed and in my room for years now. It is my most-prized autograph in my entire collection and I’m glad that I can share it with you.

  1. Thanks for all your comments!

It is pretty awesome, isn't it?

I wonder if she knows how much that postcard meant to me. Hopefully she'll find this blog one day, and it will give her a smile.

  2. Dude, I’ve been looking for this for a while! Did you happen to write that fan letter to her from that really old magazine from the early 90s for teens called “React!”??

I received the same exact postcard, with a different message which now helps me to realize how real and personal the experience was. I’m happy you still have the postcard, sort of jealous. I felt the same way, some sort of captivation, infatuation back in ’94ish-95 (10-11) years old that swept my feet and I wrote a letter also!

When I got it back I almost dropped to the floor and of course, I colored her lips in with red marker I believe, kissing it before bedtime! Haha Ahh those were the days bro. Anyway, lost it literally 5 years ago (March ’10) in a crazy rainstorm & I missed it ever since.

Tommy P.S. – Thanks for bringing back a solid memory.

  3. Hi Tommy,

Thank you so much for that comment. People try to tell me all the time that she didn’t sign that and I never believe them. She signed it. I know!

It’s so cool to hear your story and to see that our messages were different on it. It’s even more personal and meaningful now.

I am still in love with her and cherish this postcard.

I just wrote to her via the network she was on at the time. I did collect her magazine appearances too though.

I hope you have a great day!

  4. Chase! Sup man, long time.

I just finally got my own name . com real estate (another random thing we have in common! haha) and while doing so, wanted to search my footprint online to see what comes up. I totally forgot about this 2 years old now.

When I saw Claire Danes’ postcard in Google Images next to my name, haha, I got as excited and “first love crush” all over again. Bro, I’m 33 now! Crazy. Anyway, yeah man. Magazine was called “React” for teens but can’t find it anywhere online. I agree though, same thing–everyone said it was not really her! I used to get so upset, defending the fact that our truly beloved Claire Danes was not some cheap phony celebrity!

So funny. Have a Merry Christmas bro. I put my website in the box, it’s so brand new so there is absolutely nothing but a page of words and a few links to things. But, try k.i.t. and I’ll do the same for you. Peace.

  5. Hi Tommy P,

This postcard meant so much to me back in the day. It still does. I am sure that she sent it. Why wouldn’t she have? She wasn’t huge yet and I’m sure she appreciated us fans.

    Merry Christmas,

    Chase
