Doctor Who – The Seventh Doctor: Operation Volcano
The Doctor and Ace are back with a brand new adventure that matches the tone of the classic Doctor Who series. It’s like they haven’t missed a beat from when the show went off the air in 1989.
Even if you aren’t familiar with this iteration of the Doctor, it is worth the read. The story plays out like a modern television episode. It has spaceships, aliens, and even a bit of a government conspiracy to boot.
I like the way the artists played with the idea of the low budget the original television series had. There are some pieces of personal protective equipment that could have been modern in scope. They could have used hazmat suits or something complicated; instead the characters don what looks like clear plastic bags. It’s both funny and fitting for the tone of a book that continues the television adventures of the last of the classic Doctors.
I am enjoying these one-off tales. The Third Doctor’s book was especially great. I can’t wait to read more.
