Strange Ice Hills at the Beach

I decided to stay active this winter. Normally, when it starts to get cold, I hang up my running shoes for the season. I don’t like running outside when it gets below 5°C.

The funny thing is, it’s been warmer than that several times this winter and I have taken full advantage of that by hitting the trail.

Last week, we had a day where it was 8°C outside, so I headed to the beach for a run.

I was really surprised to see these large ice hills along the shore. I’ve never seen anything like it. But I also don’t usually visit the beach in February.

These ice hills jutted out further than the shore. It felt strange climbing them because I knew I was standing above the water.

And they were quite tall.

I wanted to run the trail but it was a little treacherous.

Fortunately, there is a nice paved path that runs through the park.

But even that proved challenging to navigate.

Still, it was really nice to be able to run outside in February, wearing a t-shirt and jogging pants. I didn’t need a hat, gloves, or a windbreaker.

It was beautiful!
