Remember, Respect, and Honour the Past

It’s Remembrance Day here in Canada – a day where we pause to reflect on the past sacrifices many have made on our behalf.

I am reminded of the time I spent serving as a member of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. I loved being in this band. We looked sharp and sounded amazing. We got to play in all sorts of parades, tattoos, and concerts.

It’s important to honour our past, to remember the sacrifices that have been made, and to do so with the utmost respect.

Marching bands are one way that we can hold on to military tradition without the need for violence. I love watching marching bands. It really is a beautiful thing.

Press play on the video below to see a mind-blowing routine from The Ohio State University Marching Band. It is one of the best performances I have ever seen. Absolutely incredible!

  2. Hi Hilary,

The band was great. I miss it sometimes. I have thought about finding another marching band to join . . . but teaching music every day is keeping me pretty busy as is. And it's also fun!

    Cheers!
