I don’t know why but I really didn’t think I’d still be alive at this point.
Perhaps I thought I’d be a famous artist of some sort whose life had been tragically cut short. I had some dark thoughts as a teenager (but who doesn’t?)
I thought I knew everything back then. I’m sure glad that I was wrong, at least on some points anyway.
But here it is 2010 and nothing is like how I imagined it would be when I was a child.
To me, anything in the 2000’s was supposed to be the glorious future. And now here we are in the second decade of the 21st Century and . . .
Where’s my personal robot?
Where’s my hoverboard?
Where are the elevated cities and flying personal spacecrafts?
Of course, the truth is I don’t really need any of these things. I have everything in life I need to build a great year. I’m really looking forward to this year. I think 2010 is going to be great.
Here’s wishing you all the best in the New Year and New Decade!

Your personal robot is that computer in front of you.
I hope that they NEVER mass-produce Jetson-style hovercraft — can you imagine all the cell-phone-talking, brain-dead car drivers of today, being launched into the air to do even more damage?
Happy New Year, belated!
Hi ECD,
My computer can't serve me dinner or do my laundry. It would be nice to have some assistance like that.
As for flying cars, I think you may have a point there. Hadn't thought about that.
Thanks for the comment. It's good to see you around the blogosphere again. Happy New Year!
