Much 2Be Thankful For

I had a great holiday weekend. It gave me time to reflect on all the blessings I have in my life. Things might not be perfect. I may be in debt up to my eyeballs. I might not have all the latest technology that some of my friends have. I might want some things that I don’t have. But I don’t really want for anything.

I have a great job that I enjoy and it gives me a great deal of personal satisfaction. I can come home after a long day and kick back on my couch, watch TV for a bit and unwind. I have enough money to buy food so that I eat three square meals a day, plus snacks. I have heat, electricity, running water, and indoor plumbing.

I have family and friends, who I spent thanksgiving with.

On Saturday I was invited to one of my students’ birthday parties. It was great to be able to go. There were other kids from my class there and they were excited to see me there.

On Sunday I went to my mom’s and had a really nice visit. My brother and sister-in-law were there as well. We had a great dinner and I stuffed myself silly. Then we played Mexican Train Dominoes. It was a great night.

On Monday, I got a great run in. I will write about it more in detail later this week. I visited my dad and had dinner there as well.

And today, was another great day at school.

I can’t really complain about anything. I may not have everything that I want in this life, but I have everything that I need. Life is good. I appreciate every moment of it.

  1. I needed something to be grateful for today, and you gave it to me, even if it wasn’t my own experiences. The fact that you’re grateful makes me feel like I should be, so I’m trying to be. It’s helping a little.

  2. Hi Chase – Isn’t it amazing how when we stop to count our blessings, we realize our needs are often met. It’s those “wants” that often distract us from realizing how truly blessed we really are.

  3. Hi Oktober Five,

    That’s awesome, I’m glad I could help.

    Hi Barbara,

Truer words have not been spoken. I think everyone should take some time to count their blessings at this time of year. I love thanksgiving!
