DIY Turntable Covers for DJs

Here is my basement studio set-up.

The only problem is that I want to keep my turntables plugged in and ready to go at a moment’s notice. It’s time-consuming to take the roadcase lid off and place it under the decks every time I want to use them. Then I have to plug them into the mixer as well. But I can’t just leave them like this. They will get dusty and could get damaged.

There are plastic covers available for the Technics 1200s but they are either hard to find or expensive.

So I came up with this brilliant solution.

This is a kitty litter tray that I got from the dollar store.

As you can see, it fits perfectly and keeps the tone arms protected with a hard plastic shell.

A t-shirt is the final piece of the puzzle. They are great dust covers for any piece of electronic equipment as they don’t shed fibres like towels can.

I am glad I came up with this solution today. It’s perfect.

Of course, this is just for home use. When I take these out for gigs, I have the roadcase lids to keep everything safe and sound.
