Bluey might just be the best television show ever.

It is an animated children’s program about a family of dogs. And to tell you the truth, I wasn’t really interested in watching it. After all, we already have a great kids show about a blue dog; Blue’s Clues! Also, I am not impressed with the majority of children’s programs. This one though, transcends that medium. It is absolutely brilliant and well worth your time.

Bluey is a six year old big sister to Bingo. Their parents, Bandit and Chili, are amazing parents. They play with their kids, act silly, teach them all sorts of things, and are genuinely loving and caring people.

When people talk of the best TV dad and drop names like Philip Banks (Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show), Andy Taylor (The Andy Griffith Show), and Danny Tanner (Full House), they should definitely add Bandit Heeler to the list.

I love how he drops everything to play with his kids. He doesn’t mind being silly, even in public to show them the time and attention they deserve. His wife, Chili, does the same. And she openly forgives and accepts his shortcomings and faults.

I’m surprised that a kids show can give me this many feels. I laugh out lout several times every episode. I am often moved to tears too. It’s a well-crafted show that doesn’t have to engage in anything outlandish. This is a regular family doing everyday things.

The show is Australian but universal in its appeal.
