Script Frenzy

I’m in.

I’ve always wanted to try the novel writing month that happens every year in November but as a teacher, it is such a busy month for me that I simply cannot. Instead of writing a novel, I’m writing report cards.

April is a much better month for writing. So when I heard about Script Frenzy I was immediately intrigued. I think I can write 100 pages in 30 days. So today I signed up for the challenge.

Now all I need is a good story idea.

I’ve think I might tell a love story that starts and ends at a blood donor clinic. It would be a sad story where the guy metaphorically gets sucked dry by the girl. It could work. The theme would be about how much of ourselves we give to those around us. Giving too much can be counterproductive and this poor guy is going to learn that the hard way.

Well, wish me luck and if you have any good ideas, feel free to share them.

  1. Good luck! I signed up for this after completing Nanowrimo last year. I haven't got a story yet either…but it will come, I hope. 🙂

  2. Hi Jeannette,

Good luck with it as well. How did your novel turn out?

    Hi Anonymous,

What do you mean "without judging?"

I like to let the stories flow so that the characters can come alive and take the story to where it needs to go.

I know this story idea makes it sound like the guy is the victim here but I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that. I will enjoy seeing how it plays out, if this is the story I choose to tell.

    Hi Hilary,

    Thanks for the support.

  3. What I ment was what you actually said, let it flow. like you said,it sounded like the guy is the victim, but who knows what the story will bring you when it reveals itself?
sure, starting with a set up is a good idea, but we all know how life really goes, sideways.
good luck! no hidden agenda in my comments.
    sincerely

  4. *gasp* Another Hillary! You never see those! What a rare sighting!

I cannot stress enough (from past NaNoWriMos and Script Frenzy-ies) don't stress if you don't have your story set or if you don't think its that good. In the end, once you start writing under deadline, your story will mutate in ways you never thought it would so there isn't any point in stressing about it ahead of time.

It is actually easier without knowing what you are writing ahead of time.

  5. Hi Hilary DePiano,

    Thanks for the advice.

I like to have just the bare bones of an idea before I start writing. It keeps it exciting since the story reveals itself when you get into the flow of it.

I'm still not so sure about this story but I'm going to follow your advice and just dive in and write. Thanks!

  6. Hi Jeannette,

It can be the hard part. But I think it's always easier once you've gotten some distance from the work. You've had time away from it now so once your script is done, May would be a good month to start editing the novel.

I like to read through it all in one sitting with a pencil. This way you can catch the grammar errors and you can also find continuity errors or problems in the story a lot easier.

Well, good luck with everything and thanks for the comments.
