What is your Dream Car?

When I was a child, my dream car was the black pickup truck that Michael J. Fox had in Back to the Future. It was a beautiful ride with chrome running boards and hunting lights. I always told myself that I would own a truck just like that someday.

So far, I have only owned second-hand cars. They have all been ordinary mid-sized cars. I would still like to have that truck but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I have a new dream vehicle now anyway.

Here is my new dream car. It’s a BMW X5. I have had the chance to drive one and I immediately fell in love with it. I don’t know what it is about this car. Maybe it’s because it is more practical for my life now than a pickup truck. Maybe it’s because it handles so well and looks amazing. Maybe it’s because it is way to expensive and I know I will probably never have one. Whatever the reason, this is my dream car.

I love the fact that both of my dream rides are powerful vehicles. They are also both practical for different things.

If I had enough money to buy two cars, I would consider buying a ZENN car as well. I first was introduced to this car on the Rick Mercer Report a few weeks back. ZENN stands for Zero Emissions No Noise. Now that is a dream of a different sort. I love to do my part to save the world. This car would certainly help.

The ZENN car is completely electric. It makes absolutely no noise when it is in operation as well. The only drawback to it that I can see is the regulated maximum speed for an electric car is only 25 mph. The battery also gives you only 35 miles per charge. It would be perfect for small trips around the city but it wouldn’t really suit all my transportation needs. Too bad too because it is a great car, very cost efficient, and excellent on the environment. If everyone had these, the city would be so much quieter as well. No Noise! It’s unbelievable.

So there are my three dream cars. What are yours?

  1. My dream car was a sports car and I have one but it stays in the garage at my dad’s until the nice weather, he says the salt that’s used for the snowy roads will eat away at the paint on the car. It’s a 1979 pontiac Fire Bird Trans Am.

  2. That would be a great ride, ECD. It would be a great way to get things done while going from place to place. I might need to add that to my list.

  3. Hybrid and all-electric cars nowadays have seen a lot of improvements. Longer charge and battery capacity and better performance are just two of the many things we've seen so far. Almost four years after, what's your dream car now? Second-hand cars ain't bad at all, I tell you. There are situations where these cars are better than buying a new one.

  4. Hi Kevyn,

It's hard to believe that this post is nearly four years old. Wow!

I appreciate you reading it and commenting. Thanks!

I still see lots of X5s on the road and every time I do, I fantasize about me having one, one day. I love those cars and that one is definitely still on my list of dream cars to own.

I'm a practical guy so although it might be nice to have a fancy sports car, I think I'd still just prefer the X5.

I would like to own a newer, more efficient electric or hybrid car, but I think I will wait until they are fully electric and still capable of doing everything a regular gas-powered car can do. That, plus I can't afford to buy a new car (not for a while anyway)
