Teaching Tip Tuesday – Summer Holiday

Teachers are never really off duty.

Summer holidays are not just a two month vacation with no worries. Many of us are planning for the new school year in September already. We are gathering resources, working on long range plans, writing lessons, and planning units.

Most teachers take classes or sign up for courses over the summer that will help them become better and more effective in the classroom.

I know that over the course of this past school year, I put in a lot of extra time. I ran music extra-curricular activities nearly every recess. I arrived early, stayed late, and even did work at home at night and on the weekends.

That is why, it is important to take a summer holiday.

Teaching Tip Tuesdays is a great weekly feature on this blog, but one that will be going on a hiatus for the summer.

I have a few great ideas for articles that I might write over the summer but I will not be posting them until late August when this feature will resume its regular weekly spot here on Silent Cacophony.

Please stay tuned to this blog for some great content as I will continue to post entries all summer long.

I hope all of the teachers and students out there have a safe and happy summer!

  2. Hi Hilary,

My summer vacation started with the Canada Day long weekend. It was a perfect start to the holiday. We had a family reunion as well.

I hope to write some fiction, query letters, and lots of blog posts this summer. That's my plan.
