Comments

Blogs give you a great opportunity to get instant feedback on what you write. I love that feature so much. Getting comments on an entry is what really makes this whole experience worthwhile. Thank you to everyone who has made a comment here at some time.

I know that not every post will speak to you. I know that you might come here, read my thoughts and move on. I read other people’s blogs everyday. I have a daily ritual to follow the links on my side bar. I don’t always comment, but I try to make a regular point of it.

So if you are reading these words and they speak to you, even if they don’t, drop a comment. Say Hi. Introduce yourself. Or, if you are shy about that, click on my profile and send me an email. I have had some great discussions grow out of this forum and continue in email.

I sometimes think of this venture like a newspaper. Lots of people read the articles but very few ever write a letter to the editor. I can understand why. It takes a lot of time and effort to compose a good editorial. However, it doesn’t take too long to type up a quick comment on a blog. And those comments often mean a lot to the author. So, go over to your favourite blog and tell them how much you look forward to reading their words everyday. It will brighten up their day. I guarantee it.

  1. We have gotten some snow so far this winter. It looks like we are going to get hit with a big storm this weekend. They are calling for about 20 cm of snow over the weekend. Time to bust out the toque.

  2. I have been skateboarding up until two ago i messed up my knee and i have not been on a board since then. How long have you been skating? I am a big fan of Ryan Sheckler one of the youngest pro. skaters

  3. I got my first skateboard when I was twelve years old. I have skated ever since. It’s something that I really love to do. I am not that good at it but can manage to pull off a few good tricks.

  4. I am very grateful to you for the information. It very much was useful to me.

  5. Hi ECD,

I've been getting about three spam comments a day for the past month. It's getting to be quite frustrating. I keep deleting them as quickly as I can. I was hoping that would deter this spam but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

  6. Nope, it won't stop them at all, especially if it's a bot. In fact, the one thing that encourages spammers more than anything, is to reach a live person at the other end. That's why we have to resist the urge to send an angry response to the originator of a spam message — it confirms that your account or website is not dead.

  7. Hi ECD,

I could just turn off the anonymous comment feature. I've been thinking about that for a while. It seems that most of the anonymous commenters are just spam anyway.

I'm not sure I want to do that. I'll have to think about it some more.
