Lots to Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is a great time of year to reflect, take stock, and count all of the blessing you have in life.

Ten years ago, I wrote a post expressing all of the things I was thankful for. This included having a nice place to live, my teaching career, a supportive and loving family, and being able to enjoy trail running. I admitted that even though things were not perfect, I was happy.

It is amazing having this record to look back on. There are years where I did not write a thankful post, but the archive still reflects the many things that I appreciated at the time. Over the years, it seems as though not much has changed. That is nice to see as well.

So here it my “Things to be thankful for” list of 2018:

Silent Cacophony

I love writing. I used to keep a journal but I have not written in it regularly for quite some time. And while I haven’t blogged as much in recent times as I used to, I make sure that I update content every week. Once I am done my Masters degree, I should have more time to blog and I plan to take advantage of that. In the meantime, I am thankful for this platform and that it allows we to easy look back.

My Wife

I am thankful for my wife. It is so amazing to know that there is someone who cares about me as much as she does, someone who is always there for me, and always will be. I love her with all my heart.

Gizmo

I am really excited to be starting a family with Diana. That is right, we are expecting a baby early next year. When I saw the very first ultrasound, it was hard to decipher what I was looking at. The image looked a bit like a Gremlin, from the 1984 film Gremlins. I started called the baby “Gizmo” and the nickname has stuck.  Since we are not finding out the gender of the baby, I won’t know who he or she is until then. But I love Gizmo and am very thankful to be adding to the family.

Teaching

I moved to Sarnia since getting married and have been supply teaching. I am thankful that I was able to get into the local school board and that I have been able to teach in a variety of schools. Teaching high-school music, even on a day-to-day basis has been a lot of fun and a true blessing.

Being Healthy and Active

Trail running is an absolute joy. I love being able to commune with nature and let the sounds of the city fade away. I love that I live really close to a beach now and have been able to go swimming often this summer. I have my health and stay active. That is something to be thankful for.

My DJ Business

DJing has been a hobby for the past few years. I have really enjoyed rocking rap concerts, providing the music for some weddings, school dances, and community events. I want to take my expertise and experience and apply it in a bigger way. That is why you may have noticed some changes to this site. I am almost done transforming this website into my professional site. Don’t worry though, the blog will continue on the way it always has.

However you are celebrating (or not) . . .

I hope you can take a moment to reflect on your blessings and the great things in your life. We all have something to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!
