WIB Rap Radio – Napoleon Da Legend

We have a special guest on our phone lines this week, Napoleon Da Legend. You have heard his music on this show several times, and now you get to hear him talk about his music and hard hitting issues.

We talk about white privilege and the other types of  advantages that people have and might not even be aware of. We also talk about innovation and experimentation in music. It’s not always the best idea to stick to tried and true rules of hip-hop. As he says, “I know what automatically works right now” but he doesn’t just do that. He says, “I want to still be an artist that advances the music and tries.” The message here is that life is too short to conform.

Napoleon the Legend breaks it down even further, “Every great major artist that people put in their Top 10, has something totally brand new about what they did in one shape, form, or the other.

We had a great conversation that will inspire you and if you weren’t a fan before, I am sure you will be won over now. And of course, I spin tons of great new music, and sprinkle in a few underground jams from years past.

Press play and enjoy the show!

WIB Rap Radio – Dead Homiez

We’ve lost way too many emcees over the years. I had the idea to pay tribute to them in a special edition of Word is Bond Rap Radio.

My idea was start off the show with Ice Cube’s “Dead Homiez” and then play tracks exclusively from rappers who have passed away.

This is a show I have wanted to do for quite some time now. I just haven’t had the time. So when Xplizitsouljah asked to do a guest mix on the show and if I had any ideas for the show, I gave him this idea and he ran with it.

Let’s celebrate the music that these amazing artists have left us with. Thanks for the memories. Rest in Peace!

Eclipsing All Other Mixshows (WIB Rap Radio)

The moon tried to black out the sun and everyone looked towards the sky to witness the total solar eclipse this week.

That same night on Word is Bond Rap Radio I did my best to eclipse all other playlists and podcasts with two hours of underground hip-hop mixed live on the radio.

Records passed in front of each other, like the moon and the sun. They played together to create transitions and blends. It might not have been as visually stunning as the celestial event but it wass audibly pleasing and it’s just as worthy of your time.

Press play and enjoy the show!

Chase March on the Gripple Effect Mixshow

I am the guest DJ for the latest edition of The Gripple Effect Mixshow.

It’s an open-format show that highlights the art and skill of various deejays. Hosted by DJ Gripski, the show has absolutely no limits. A DJ is free to craft a mix of any length that covers any genre.

I wanted to have fun with this mix and play things I wouldn’t normally get the chance to play on my underground hip-hop show, Word is Bond Rap Radio. So there is some funk, some pop, some hip-hop, and a few instrumental tracks. I’m quite proud of how it turned out.

When I recorded this mixset, I played a song called Freedom and felt like I should mix it into another track by the same title. At the time, I didn’t realize that my guest stint for the show would be featured for episode 55. It made me think of the old commercials I used to hear for Freedom 55. I haven’t seen or heard a commercial from them in a while, and this is by no means a recommendation of their services. I just thought it was a nice plan on words and the theme of my mix.

Please visit DJ Gripski’s website and subscribe to his podcast. It celebrates the art of deejaying and features great mixsets every single month.

Need a Scratch Hook? DJ Sale on Now!

Rap albums always sound better with some DJ skills showcased. Whether you have a chorus that has vocal samples scratched in or something just to highlight a lyric or two, having a real DJ on your song elevates it significantly.

Now is the perfect time to add some turntablism to your song as I am holding a two-week sale.

If you have a specific idea of what you would like to hear, like a particular lyric from your favourite MC, just let me know and I will make your vision come to life on the record. If you aren’t sure of what you would like, I can create something based on the beat and lyrics you already have.

Send me your track via email and I will get to work on it right away.

Here is a song I did with Traffimatics and Mad Hattr so you can see what I do.

Here is another song I worked on with Lyrical Mind called “No Holding Back.”

If you would like to have your album tracks mixed or create a mixtape, I can do that as well. A hip-hop album always sounds better with a DJ.

Let’s work!
